Construction began on Sun City West in the summer of 1978. It is home to approximately 30,000 people. Homes range from the upper $70,000's to over $400,000. Living areas start at around 800 square feet and run up to 3,000 square feet. Sun City West is bordered by Bell Road on the South, Grand Avenue on the West, El Mirage Road on the East and Deer Valley on the North. Outstanding medical and dental facilities are located within Sun City West (Del Webb Memorial Hospital) and nearby Boswell Medical Center in Sun City.

Recreational Features

The Sundome Center for the Performing Arts is located in the heart of Sun City West and seats over 7,000 people. It hosts numerous professional shows and plays and the Symphony of the West Valley plays nine concerts per year.

In addition, Sun City West has four recreation centers. Each has its own Olympic-size swimming pool. Bowling, billiards, tennis, handball, racquetball, shuffleboard, boccie, miniature golf, a fitness gym, running track, slow-pitch softball and horseshoe facilities are available in Sun City West.

Golf Courses

There are seven residents-owned golf courses. Four are championship courses - Pebblebrook, Grandview, Deer Valley and Trail Ridge. Stardust, Desert Trails and Echo Mesa are executive-length courses. Hillcrest golf course (owned by the John Jacobs School of Golf) is open to the public. Briarwood Golf Course and Country Club is a private club for members and their guests.
