Surprise Overview

Surprise, Arizona is one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona. Situated in the Northwest Valley, just west of the Sun Cities communities, it features a combination of family sub-divisions as well as numerous active adult communities.

Population has increased dramatically. In June, 2003 the population was 57,000 and it has climbed to 68,000 in June of this year, an increase of 19.2%. Housing starts went from 3106 in 2002 to 4900 in 2003 for an increase of 58%!

Surprise consists of 78 square miles and a planning area of 310 square miles with 223 acres of park land. It has 627 businesses either operating or pending. It has 9 public schools.
